School bands usually are marching bands during spring and summer, and are extremely important for the Norwegian National day the 17.th of May. The musicians in a school band are from the age 8 to the age of 19.
Smågardistene and rehearsals
Smågardistene are currently counts about 85 musicians 8-19 years old. Many of our musicians start in the school band when they are around 8-9 years old. The youngest ones in Smågardistene play in the Junior band. At the age of 11 they usually become part of the main school band. The juniors rehearse every Thursday 17:30-19:30, and the main school band rehearses Thursdays 18:00-20:30. All the musicians get private lessons with an instructor at individual times ranging from 14:00 to 19:00. Most of our musical instructors come to Stabekk school and give lessons there.
